One of the best seafood restaurants in the Middle East

The Chef Uri Buri

The sea was my refuge. It interested me far more than school or my teachers ever did. At thirteen, for my Bar-Mitzvah, I received my first fishing rifle. I went diving every chance I had. To avoid bringing the mess home, my mother asked that I scale and clean the fish by the sea. This is how my introduction to the world of cooking and handling fish began. This world opened itself to me with loving arms, eventually guiding me to the opening of my restaurants.

The Efendi Hotel

In 2012, Uri opened the Efendi Hotel. Just a short walk from our restaurant, The Efendi is a boutique property with only 12 rooms, and is considered the most intricate restoration project ever undertaken by a private entrepreneur in the country.

"Believe the hype. It is THAT good. The simplicity and quality of the ingredients shine. The flavors are beyond delicious. Despite all the media and publicity and TV shows and lists a restaurant of this quality could easily go downhill and trade on its name. Uri Buri does not rest on its laurels.

Rather it is a sensation of quality ingredients that underlie the beauty and the tastiness of the dishes. Try the tasting menu and be ready to share and enjoy. The ceviche was stellar. The vegetables and fruits used offset the fish in delightful ways. Hard to pick a favorite as each dish was distinct and tasty.

Worth every penny shekel dollar dinar ruble pound yen or currency you can imagine. My wife and I live in the northwest of the United States where there is an abundance of seafood and this was one of the finest seafood meals we've ever had."

"By far one of my favorite restaurants in the world! We ordered the testing menu, which I think is a good option if you want to try different things. The selection they gave us was amazing, everything was delicious! The staff is really nice and the service is fast, I strongly recommend this place."

"Not that this place needs more praise, but boy, does it live up to its reputation - by far and away the best seafood restaurant I’ve been to in Israel, and that’s saying a lot.

The focus is on fresh produce and simple yet effective flavor combos - think salmon sashimi with soy sauce and wasabi sorbet on the one hand, and pan-fried sea bass with chili, lemon and coriander on the other. Every single dish was a triumph; we also loved the smoked fish bruschetta with nigella seeds, the prawns with olives and spicy olive oil, and the crabmeat with cream and crispy seaweed. An elegant wine menu and cocktail selection featuring local spirits are the perfect accompaniment to the food.

Uri himself came up to our table at the end of the meal and it was a pleasure to chat with him, understand his philosophy, and just get to know the face behind the name. “There’s no such thing as bad fish, just bad cooks”, he told us. His restaurant is living proof of that."

"Wonderful dining experience, the food, wines, service, and feel of the restaurant. Being a solo diner I appreciated that they were able to accommodate me as far as the “tasting menu” went."

"For sure one of the best fish and seafood restaurants in the world for us. We've been here twice, and both times it was just perfect food. The taste is incredible! You can choose between so many lovely dishes. Just perfect!"
